JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-drivenprofessional to join our team in the role of Payroll Clerk.

Reporting to the Supervisor Shared Services, this position is responsible for performing comprehensive payroll operations—including processing payroll data, managing employee records, handling remittances and reconciliations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform day-to-day payroll duties, including updating employee records and processing missing payments promptly.
  • Prepare and process payroll data, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of all payroll operations.
  • Create and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) as required.
  • Handle garnishment processing, including hires, terminations, and remittances.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and manage all third-party and union remittances, maintaining accurate records and communication with unions.
  • Collect, scan, and distribute mail within the department, ensuring documents are saved in the proper format.
  • Process RRSP cheques, maintain the Severance Tracking System (STS), and manage WSIB top-up cheques.
  • Print and mail T4/T4A forms as needed and maintain communication with employees regarding any post-payroll issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum High School Diploma plus one year of study in a related field such as finance, payroll, accounting or business.
  • 1-3 years of payroll experience (PCP designation is an asset).
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and SAP.
  • Change resilient in an agile work environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand business processes and navigate organization and support systems to deliver results to client groups.
  • Able to provide client focused service in a high-volume environment.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions.
