A leading educational institution seeks a Payroll Processor to accurately handle payroll for staff, ensuring compliance with policies and legislation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, organizational expertise, and relevant educational qualifications, contributing to effective payroll management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Processing Payroll
Accurately processes employee payroll on the ACCPAC payroll module, including term and casual/on-call employees, based on payroll information forms approved by department managers.
Monitors and records employee timesheets upon department manager approval.
Calculates and records employee payroll details, including deductions; tracks attendance, vacation, sick leave, overtime, and other entitlements with managerial approval.
Ensures adherence to MFN’s Personnel Policy when processing payroll and verifying attendance and leave.
Maintains confidentiality and privacy at all times.
Manages payroll records and employee filing systems accurately.
Reconciles payroll deductions for employees and employers.
Prepares and reconciles payroll accounts with the general ledger.
Handles requests for pay statements and verifications.
Keeps current with payroll legislation and implements applicable requirements.
Reporting
Ensures timely remittance submissions for Pension Plans, Sun Life Pension, Group Life Benefits, WSIB, CPP, Tax, EI, and Family Responsibility Office.
Generates and distributes reports, including remittance of contributions, on schedule.
Prepares year-end payroll reports for review and approval.
Ensures report accuracy and timeliness for benefit providers.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Preferred
College Diploma in Business Administration or certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner with five (5) years of experience.
Minimum
High School Diploma with ongoing education toward a College Diploma in Payroll Compliance or Business Administration, with at least three (3) years of relevant experience or equivalent education and training.
Membership in the Canadian Payroll Association or training to become a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP).
Other
CRC requirement (30 days current, original or certified copy).
Criminal Reference Check (CRC): Must be current and original. M’Chigeeng First Nation values trust and safety; convictions related to fraud, drugs, assault, or theft must be disclosed.
