Job description

We are looking for a driven Payroll & Benefits Administrator to join our HR team and be a key member of our payroll department. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing multiple tasks in a busy work environment, proficiency working with ERP software and a willingness to learn. We are looking for someone with a positive can-do attitude who takes pride in their work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Processing both bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for hourly and salaried employees, respectively in multiple jurisdictions.
  2. Review and validate timekeeping data from various systems.
  3. Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, and payroll policies.
  4. Maintain and update payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, provincial/state, and local regulations.
  5. Compile and prepare payroll related reports and remittances after each payroll run.
  6. Processing new hires, leaves and separations including final pays and ROEs.
  7. Processing vacation, commission and expense payments.
  8. Administrating the Benefits program, and corresponding payment processing.
  9. Administrating the RRSP Matching Program, including remittance of monthly payroll deductions to provider.
  10. Assist with year-end activities including preparation of T4s.
  11. Ensure the maintenance of accurate information – personnel files.
  12. Respond to enquiries from internal and external sources regarding both payroll, benefit and RRSP matters.
  13. Troubleshoot issues for appropriate resolutions.
  14. Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external vendors as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in Payroll & Benefits Administration.
  2. Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  3. Knowledge of Payroll/HR policies and practices.
  4. Proficient with Excel, Word and MS Outlook.
  5. Basic accounting knowledge.
  6. Eager to learn and ability to apply newly acquired skills for immediate results.
  7. Ability to problem solve and work efficiently under deadlines.
  8. High attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills.
  9. Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and client service skills.
  10. Accuracy and speed in data entry.
  11. Ability to effectively work in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience working with D365, UKG & ADP Workforce Now.
  2. Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) from the National Payroll Institute or equivalent certification.

  1. Must be able to effectively communicate, (ie see, hear, speak and write clearly) in order to communicate with colleagues and/or customers; manual dexterity required for occasional reaching, lifting of light office objects, and operating office equipment.

  1. The office is clean, orderly, properly lighted and ventilated. Noise levels are considered low to moderate.
Pay: $75,000 - $82,000 (DOE)
