About the role

Hourly wage: $32.00 - $35.00

What you will do
  • Maintain harmonious and professional relationships with co-workers, supervisors and all departments.
  • Ensure compliance with Four Seasons’ Work Rules, Standards of Conduct, and all local and corporate policies and procedures related to Finance.
  • Oversee payroll processing by offshore payroll team.
  • Assist the Human Resources Department in reconciling payroll discrepancies, employee queries, maintaining vacation accruals, and other payroll-related requests.
  • Review, verify and process payroll data on a bi-weekly payroll schedule.
  • Maintain and file all bi-weekly payroll documentation aligning with internal controls.
  • Prepare cheque requests when necessary for employee deductions or balances for transferred employees.
  • Work closely with the Human Resources department to ensure compliance with CRA guidelines, employment standards and accuracy of employee data.
  • Assist in month-end processes, accruals and payroll journals.
  • Reconcile balance sheets monthly.
  • Reconcile and file monthly and quarterly government taxes.
  • Complete year-end payroll processing including, but not limited to, T4 preparation, DPSP calculations and remittances, WCB filing, EHT filing.
  • Conduct labour analysis as required to identify variances or provide further insight for management.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices.
  • Participate in weekly labour meetings.
  • Prepare and assist in special audits (Workers' Compensation, Labour Compliance, etc.).
  • Prepare labour and productivity reports for discussion with Department Heads and Assistant Director of Finance.
  • Maintain an intermediate understanding of Month-End Process, including preparation of financial statements, accruals and journal entries, and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
  • Support the Finance Department in other accounting and administrative duties as required.
What you bring
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times and maintain strict confidentiality of all payroll and other information.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and make recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present reports clearly and facilitate discussions with various stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and ethical business conduct.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with peers, superiors, and operational teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Curious and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience with Payroll and knowledge of BC Employment Standards Act is required.
  • Strong preference is given to individuals with experience with ADP and Workday.
  • Experience and knowledge of GST and PST filing and remittance.
  • Preference given to individuals with PCP training.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Schedule & Hours

As our hotel is open 24/7, 365 days a year, we expect the Payroll Accountant to be flexible in working mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
