Job description

Our client, a well established organization in Toronto, has engaged ROSS (www.getROSS.com) to find them a Payroll Administrator.

Job Description:

  1. Overseeing and administering standard payroll processing activities including but not limited to: new hire set-ups, garnishments, tax filings, terminations, pay calculations, payroll file creation, T4s, defensive queries, etc. with a focus on Canadian payroll practices and legislation.
  2. Auditing and validating Client information and payroll data.
  3. Conducting thorough and, at times, complex payroll investigations and see through to completion, including providing feedback to Client and/or management as required.
  4. Ensuring data is accurate and working with the Client and colleagues when discrepancies arise to identify and rectify root cause.
  5. Managing projects and participating in project teams (may be cross-functional) to implement new and modified client business requirements.
  6. Performing Client needs analysis, preparing business requirements documentation and/or change requests as required.
  7. Working with subject matter experts to enhance current tools and/or develop new tools to meet Client needs and/or to achieve operational efficiency.
  8. Testing new and modified systems and applications.
  9. Creating users guides and other training material for Clients and internal use.
  10. Providing functional training and ongoing support to Clients and colleagues.
  11. Working with various systems/tools (Siebel, Maestro, proprietary software) to manage the Client requests.
  12. Continuously reviewing existing processes to determine opportunities for improvement/efficiency.
  13. Creating and maintaining current process documentation for internal use.
  14. Responding to client emails and telephone requests in a timely manner.
  15. Participating in or facilitating internal and external meetings.
  16. Adapting to outsourcing culture and recognizing differences between running in-house payroll versus as a service provider.
  17. Partnering with Offshore colleagues to provide seamless, accurate and timely service to external and internal Clients.
  18. Providing ongoing and exceptional Client service via telephone, CRM system, face-to-face meetings (as required) and e-mail.
  19. 3-5 years in a payroll systems analyst/administrator/coordinator role.
  20. Experience with SAS70 audits would be considered an asset.

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of both Canadian practices, legislation and nuances - any U.S. payroll would be considered an asset.
  2. CPA certified would be considered an asset.
  3. Must have Peoplesoft experience, v 7.5 and 8.
  4. Able to work enthusiastically through ambiguous situations and within a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  5. Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively.
  6. Strong analytical skills - including Intermediate Excel skills.
  7. Proven problem-solving and decision making skills.
  8. Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility and the propensity to take initiative.
  9. Able to learn and apply project management skills and methodologies to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and on budget.
  10. Able to balance working autonomously as required while contributing efficiently to the team's overall targets and goals.
  11. Preference will be given to Bilingual candidates.
