Responsibilities
- Responsible for the bi-weekly payroll for 40+ salaried staff that all our staff receive on-time paychecks and understand their salaries thoroughly
- Reviewing and validating employees’ approved hours, direct deposits, scheduling maintenance,
Provide accurate reporting and reconciliation of vacation balance, sick days leave balance and payroll rate history on a regular basis. - Assist controller to maintain and reconcile Timesheet system (Calamari) for staff’s payroll and HR records
Support Human Resources as needed - Administrating Group benefit enrollment, changes and cancellation etc.
- Back up weekly deposit when AR is not available
- Accurately review, code, and process vendor invoices
- Process checks requests and expense reports on a regular basis
- Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
- Responsible for employee’s payroll or benefit questions
- Responsible for vendor queries regarding any accounts payable issue.
- Identify and escalate payroll or vendor issues to the Senior Accountant or Controller for quick and appropriate resolution.
Requirements
- Minimum three years payroll and accounting experience - PCP Preferred.
- Knowledge of provincial payroll regulations
- Understands employee payroll issues, possesses strong problem-solving skills, and communicates solutions effectively, professionally, and respectfully.
- Strive to continually improve the payroll process and procedure.
- Willing to work cross-departmentally with accounting to ensure the payroll and AP runs as smoothly as possible.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, flexible, and able to adjust to changing work demands;
- Ability to ensure legal and regulatory compliance;
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
- Exceptional prioritizing and time management skills;
- Ability to process basic functions and formulas in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
