Job description

Valard Construction LP is Canada's premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies and part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator is part of a team responsible for collecting, reviewing, and posting all timesheets for multiple companies with 2000+ employees and processing multi-company payrolls with 100+ employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collect, review, audit, and correct timesheets and input them into the payroll system
  • Process weekly payrolls for multiple companies with 100+ employees
  • Input daily and process advances and vacation pay
  • Assist the Payroll Manager with month-end consolidation upon request
  • Prepare, review, and remit source deductions to CRA
  • Process pay increases and calculate retro pay
  • Work in a team setting to meet priorities and deadlines

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Resolve issues with pay discrepancies
  • Answer phone queries
  • File documents
  • Perform backup duties for other team members during high volume periods or when the department is short-staffed
  • Mail and email pay stubs and any payroll-related documents to employees
  • Flexible hours of work

  • Decision-making and problem-solving ability

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Achievement of or in the process of acquiring PCP Certification from the National Payroll Institute
  • One year of payroll experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general Labour Standards
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
