About

As part of the Human Resources team, and reporting to the Pay Master, the Pay Technician is responsible for several crucial steps in payroll preparation, while also collaborating on various other human resources processes.

Responsibilities

Payroll and benefits processing:

  1. Gather relevant information to process employee payrolls, then prepare the required entries (e.g. timesheets, commissions, bonuses, hires and terminations);
  2. Update employee files in the various payroll and benefits systems;
  3. Answer employees' questions about their pay and benefits;
  4. Actively participate in month-end (e.g., reports, remittances) and year-end (e.g., forms, calendars) processes;
  5. Produce various required documents such as employment confirmation letters;
  6. Support year-end process;
  7. Preparation of documents required for the administration of benefits such as employment insurance, short and long term insurance;
Employee experience
  1. Actively participate in the management of certain HR processes;
  2. Answer employees' questions on departmental policies;
  3. Take part in various departmental projects;
  4. Any other related tasks that may fall within the scope of the Payroll and Human Resources Department;
The Profile We Are Looking For
  1. You have a minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in a payroll administration position;
  2. You have a DEC in accounting and management, or a combination of training and experience deemed equivalent;
  3. You are bilingual (English and French) so you can collaborate on all assignments across Canada;
  4. You are known for your attention to detail, integrity and honesty;
  5. You're comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  6. You enjoy teamwork;
  7. Experience with ADP Workforce Now (an asset);
  8. In-depth knowledge of payroll laws and regulations (an asset);
