Qualifications

Job Summary

The Paving Foreman/woman directs and manages all on-site construction workers, subcontractors and equipment, enforcing the company’s direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines. The construction work is varied including all facets of small civil jobs to large municipal and highway projects.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, and equipment.
  2. Represent the company professionally in the community and maintain ongoing good business relationships with customer base and suppliers.
  3. Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  4. Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
  5. Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture, and an integral component of regular duties.
  6. Administer and submit daily reporting.
  7. Train and promote the development of crew members.
  8. Work with the Human Resources Department on matters of employee performance and discipline, when required.
  9. Ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
  10. Maintain positive company image.
  11. Other duties as required.
Qualifications

Education, Training and Certifications
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license (Class 5) with clean abstract.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Work Experience
• Minimum 10 years related paving experience.

Technical Skills
• Proficient in use of all equipment and tools related to asphalt paving.
• Experience using grade control on paving equipment.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office.
• Positive attitude and ability to motivate and mentor crew members.

Working Conditions

• Overtime as required.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
• Required to perform tasks that involve standing, heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling for an extended period of time.
• Use of personal protection equipment is required.
• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors.
• Must be able to work outdoors in areas that are dusty and/or dirty.
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
• Must comply with all company policies.
