About This Team

Imagine Design is the Architect of a product, and Product Development is the Engineer. From concept through to pre‑production stage, Product Development is the front‑line regarding communication with the finished goods vendor base, launching sketches, requesting sampling, fitting product and keeping an accurate data library of the life cycle of a product. Product Development is a truly cross‑functional working group that pivots to partners such as Design, Concept, Fit, Quality, Merchandising, Finished Goods Sourcing, Raw Materials and Go To Market operations to deliver a commercially ready product to our buying teams. They are strong communicators who value and develop their cross‑functional relationships. This is a team of high performers who are constantly striving to develop personally and professionally, practicing open feedback in a trusting space. Day in the life

Lead a team of Pattern engineers to create and refine garment patterns that reflect the brand’s aesthetic vision and ensure exceptional fit, comfort and quality are achieved across multiple product types. Ensure that the team is knowledgeable and forward‑thinking in technology integration and craftsmanship so they are successful in delivering cutting‑edge styles in partnership with technical developers and design. Create a team of individuals to be able to successfully and comfortably excel in pattern making via 3D, Draping and or Flat patternmaking.

  • Lead a team of Pattern Engineers to develop initial patterns from design and or technical development; Concept to Production Ready
  • Assign and manage style allocation and teams workload to ensure deliverables and expectations are met in partnership with TD Manager
  • Provide guidance on pattern engineering techniques, tools, and best practices to enhance team skills and capabilities
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration and continuous learning
  • Oversee the refinement and adaptation of patterns based on fit sessions, feedback from designers and technical requirements
  • Establish and maintain pattern and block libraries, technical specifications and quality standards to ensure consistency and excellence in pattern development
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies and advancements in pattern making techniques to enhance product development processes
  • Lead any business initiatives in partnership with TD Manager to ensure we are landing the perfect “Fit”
  • Build a working calendar that aligns with the development calendar as well as out‑of‑season concepts and development; manage the team’s workloads to meet business deliverables (In Season and Out of Season Work)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent professional experience; focused training in Technical Design, Pattern Making, Product Development or relevant experience preferred
  • 8+ years minimum experience in pattern engineering or technical development within the fashion industry; preferred women's experience
  • 2+ years minimum people leadership / mentorship experience
  • Industry experience in pattern making (preferably development through production)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel/Word/Outlook), Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)
  • Proficiency with Flex PLM or similar PLM software
  • Expert in CAD software (Gerber, Lectra, Optitex) and other pattern making tools
  • Proficiency with 3D Software required (Browzwear, CLO)

Compensation And Benefits Package

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay‑for‑performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $140,200 – 184,000 CAD annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and subject to program eligibility requirements.
