Job summary

Shared Health at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg seeks a Patrol Security Services professional to patrol facilities, enforce security rules, and assist patients, staff and visitors. You will document incidents and support safety operations across shifts.

Requirements include Grade 12, Manitoba Security Guard license and a valid driver’s license. Prior security or related experience is an asset; effective communication and calm handling of stressful situations are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of grade 12 Manitoba standard high school or equivalent.
• Manitoba Security Guard license.
• Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Must possess a valid Manitoba Security Guard License and/or any future license mandated by Manitoba Justice to perform the duties of a Security Guard.

Responsibilities

• Patrols buildings and property of Health Sciences Centre to create a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.
• Enforces laws, rules and regulations as they apply to Security, Fire Safety and traffic.
• Detects and deals with unlawful acts; assists medical staff when requested; directs and assists visitors.
• Maintains an accurate duty activity record and properly documents incident reports for investigations.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Patrols buildings and property of the Health Sciences Centre to create a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and the visiting public. Ensures that laws, rules and regulations of the Health Sciences Centre are enforced in a prudent and reasonable fashion as they apply to Security, Fire Safety and both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Detects and deals with unlawful acts. Assists medical/nursing staff when requested and directs and assists visitors throughout the facility. Ensures that an accurate record of activities of duty is maintained and that all incident reports are properly documented to ensure proper investigative action is taken.

Experience

• Prior security, law enforcement, military and related experience an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Completion of grade 12 Manitoba standard high school or equivalent.
• Manitoba Security Guard license.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Must possess a valid Manitoba Security Guard License and/or any future license mandated by Manitoba Justice to perform the duties of a Security Guard.

Qualifications And Skills

• Must be able to work at extreme heights to support Heli-port operation.
• Must be able to perform activities that include pre-landing inspections, activation of emergency systems and assisting patient off-loads.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires a considerable amount of walking and the physical ability to restrain or evict unauthorized individuals.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
