Job description

Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, with rotating holidays.

The transporter is responsible for transporting patients, specimens, equipment, supplies, and linen throughout the hospital as needed.

Responsibilities include collecting biohazard waste, sharps containers, and soiled linen across the hospital.

Receive instructions from the coordinator regarding the type of transport required (e.g., Patient Transport, Lab Transport, Linen Delivery, Supply Transport, Morgue Transport, Biohazard pickup and container replacement, etc.).

Complete assignments promptly, notify dispatch upon completion, and receive new instructions for subsequent tasks.

Perform quarterly equipment cleaning and attend monthly meetings.

Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Grade: 100

Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact with patients and staff in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, whether printed or verbal.
  • Must be able to stand for most of the shift and assist in transferring patients from beds to stretchers and wheelchairs.
