Job Description

Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM, rotating holidays.

The transporter must transport patients, specimens, equipment, supplies, and linen throughout the hospital as needed. Responsibilities include collecting biohazard waste, sharps containers, and soiled linen across the hospital, receiving instructions from the coordinator regarding the type of transport (such as patient transport, lab transport, linen delivery, supply transport, morgue transport, biohazard pickup, and container replacement), completing assignments promptly, notifying dispatch upon completion, and receiving new instructions. The role also involves quarterly equipment cleaning, attending monthly meetings, and performing other duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Friendly and courteous communication with patients and staff.
  • Ability to follow printed or verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to stand most of the shift and assist in transferring patients from beds to stretchers and wheelchairs.
