Role Summary

Patient Eligibility Specialists (PSRs) work onsite alongside hospital staff, patients, and team members, interviewing patients to determine program eligibility. They analyze potential reimbursement opportunities and partner with patients to ensure understanding of the benefits application process. PSRs collaborate with team members and clients to meet patient and organizational needs.

Note: Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM; some travel between CCF locations may be required.

Cleveland Clinic - Hillcrest Hospital, 6780 Mayfield Rd, Mayfield Heights, OH 44124

Responsibilities
  1. Meet with under-insured or uninsured patients to explore and identify eligibility program options.
  2. Review referrals daily to determine appropriateness for interviews and eligibility, and initiate the application process when applicable.
  3. Interview patients, analyze potential reimbursements, and determine eligibility.
  4. Introduce services, set expectations, and ensure patient understanding of the process.
  5. Assist patients with questions and ensure comprehension during the application process.
  6. Obtain and manage necessary forms and follow up throughout the process.
  7. Identify additional patient needs and refer to appropriate agencies.
  8. Utilize technology and workflows, maintaining data integrity through accurate documentation.
  9. Act as an intermediary between clients, account reps, managers, hospital staff, and team members in a cooperative manner.
  10. Provide excellent client service and team collaboration.
  11. Adhere to role-specific information security and confidentiality policies, completing required training.
Role Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, with fluency in speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Ability to work onsite at the hospital facility.
  • Availability to work the scheduled hours.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
  • Patient advocacy mindset and desire to assist others daily.
  • Strong work ethic, independence, and ability to make a positive impact.
  • Proficiency with computers and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
  • Punctuality and consistent attendance.
  • Healthcare or patient contact experience is a plus.
