Position Summary

The Patient Flow Nurse (Registered Nurse) for Virtual Care is responsible for facilitating the seamless and efficient flow of patients through virtual healthcare services. This involves coordinating scheduling, triaging, and follow-up processes to ensure patients receive timely, high-quality virtual care. The nurse will collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and administrative staff to optimize the virtual care experience and contribute to patient satisfaction. The role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure to ensure appropriate and timely care based on medical needs.

Role and Responsibilities
  1. Scheduling and Visit Triage:
    • Coordinate and oversee the scheduling of virtual appointments, aligning with provider availability and patient preferences.
    • Determine the urgency of healthcare needs and prioritize appointments accordingly.
    • Prioritize patients between sites, making informed decisions about the appropriate level of care.
    • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize virtual care schedules and ensure efficient utilization.
    • Communicate patient-specific information and instructions to providers before appointments.
  2. Documentation and Data Entry:
    • Ensure accurate and up-to-date medical records, including appointment details and virtual visit outcomes.
    • Generate and share virtual care reports with relevant stakeholders as needed.
    • Follow up and coordinate lab results, ensuring timely communication of results and critical lab findings.
    • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care during transitions between virtual and in-person services.
Skill Requirements / Preferences
  • Bilingual in French and English is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent experience, and in good standing with the governing College.
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM); Nurses Association of New Brunswick (NANB) is a plus.
  • Competence in CTAS (Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale) in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adherence to the Emergency Nursing Scope and Standards of Canadian Practice (National Emergency Nurses Association, 2018).
  • Experience in healthcare coordination, scheduling, and administration.
  • Current CTAS certification with over 5 years of experience; virtual work experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and virtual care platforms.
  • Additional certifications such as ACLS and Telephone Triage Nursing are preferred.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance and patient privacy regulations.
  • Multiple provincial nursing licenses are an asset.
Additional Information

This role requires full flexibility, including availability from Monday to Sunday, with various shifts (day, evening, night, weekends) as scheduled.
