The Registered Nurse (RN) role models clinical excellence and the core competencies outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), as well as adhering to the policies and procedures of Southlake Regional Health Centre (Southlake). The RN collaborates effectively as part of the healthcare team and provides direct patient care based on the three-factor framework: The Client, Nurse, and Environment, as specified in the CNO standards for RN and RPN Practice. These factors influence decision-making related to care-provider assignment, consultation, and collaboration among care providers. All nurses commit to lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide excellent care to a diverse acute medical patient population in a fast-paced setting.
2. Assess and facilitate effective management of care, resource utilization, and patient length of stay to promote optimal clinical outcomes.
3. Address processes or issues that impede patient flow from admission to discharge.
4. Support patient care and assume patient assignments as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
