Position Summary

The Patient Care Coordinator facilitates admission, discharge, and patient transfer processes, and is responsible for coordinating patient/resident care when necessary. The role involves managing patient flow through efficient bed utilization, ensuring adequate staffing, and supporting high-quality care. The Patient Care Coordinator also assists Program Leaders in maintaining care standards and manages operations in the absence of managers and senior staff.

Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre features 44 acute care beds, 124 residential beds, and handles approximately 22,000 ER visits annually. Highlights include:

  • Endoscopy suite, two state-of-the-art operating rooms, and a procedure room
  • Ambulatory clinics including Cancer and Hemodialysis
  • 40 inpatient medical and surgical beds
  • Three intensive care units
  • Minor surgeries
  • Seven maternity rooms for Labour, Delivery, and Post-Partum

The hospital also hosts a Health Unit and Primary Care Clinic serving the community.

Fort St. John, known as “The Energetic City,” is a hub of oil, natural gas, forestry, and agriculture industries. Located above the Peace River Valley, it has a population of over 21,400 and serves a broader area of approximately 70,000. The community offers cultural facilities, schools, and a college campus. Qualifications

  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing
  • Current registration with BCCNM
  • Five years of recent acute care experience and one year of supervisory experience
  • Equivalent education, training, and supervisory experience are assets
  • NRP certification or willingness to complete within one year
  • ACLS/TNCC certification or willingness to complete within one year
  • PALS certification is an asset
