Job summary

Interior Health Authority’s Vernon Jubilee Hospital in Vernon, BC, seeks a motivated relief part-time Patient Care Coordinator (PCC). Ideal is a Registered Nurse with an Emergency Specialty Certificate who leads and coordinates patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting.

This role covers day and night rotations from 07:00 to 19:15 and 19:00 to 07:15, with return anticipated until 26 July 2027. The package includes enhanced benefits and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations and quality patient care in designated clinical areas
  • Support seamless patient flow through the healthcare system and access to resources
  • Supervise staff, mentor clinical decision-making, and participate in policy and procedure development
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to identify resource needs and staff educational opportunities

Job description

Vernon Jubilee Hospital in Vernon, BC, is seeking a motivated and organized relief part-time Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) to support and lead our team. This opportunity is ideal for a Registered Nurse with an Emergency Specialty Certificate who is passionate about clinical leadership, patient care coordination, and supporting staff in a fast-paced emergency environment. This relief position is anticipated to continue until July 26, 2027, or until the return of the incumbent.

This position works rotating days from 07:00 to 19:15 & 19:00 to 07:15.

What will you work on?

The Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model.

The PCC is responsible for the coordination of day-to-day operations and quality patient care within a designated clinical area(s). This position supports the seamless movement of patients through the healthcare system and in accessing appropriate resources.

The PCC supervises as well as serves as a role model and a resource to staff for clinical decision-making, clinical assessments of patients and in the counseling and education of families. Reviews, analyses and makes recommendations on the development of administrative systems such as policies, procedures and standards of patient care, adequate staffing levels, and a continuous quality improvement environment. Liaises with the interdisciplinary team for identification, coordination and efficient utilization of resources as well as plans for staff educational needs.
