Patient Care Assistant - Niagara Branch, Relief "A"

Position Overview

As a Patient Care Assistant, you will support the care team by providing administrative assistance to ensure patients receive prompt, effective, and compassionate service. You will play a vital role in delivering connected, accessible, patient-centered care within a collaborative team of over 8,900 health care professionals.

Start Date and Orientation

Projected start date: June 16, 2025, with a 6-week full-time orientation.

Application Scope

You may be considered for all branches within HNHB, but please apply to only one location.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to Care Coordinators
  • Process referrals, service orders, and manage patient records
  • Maintain accurate patient data in electronic systems
  • Handle high-volume inquiries via phone and refer as appropriate
  • Support other team roles as needed
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 diploma (minimum)
  • At least 2 years of relevant office experience
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Proficiency in database software, MS Word, Excel, and Windows applications
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and multi-tasking skills
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
Additional Requirements

Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination proof is required prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Health or social services college diploma or business/office administration
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and administrative procedures
  • Familiarity with Ontario Health atHome services
  • Second language skills, such as French
Compensation and Benefits

Wage: OPSEU - C: $29.39 - $31.49/hr. We offer attractive benefits, development opportunities, and a defined benefit pension plan.

Work Schedule and Availability

Flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends, with specific availability requirements as per collective agreement. Relief staff must be available for at least 5 out of 7 days, including one Monday or Friday, and for holidays including Christmas and New Year’s Day.
