Patient Care Aide, Oncology Clinic

The Patient Care Aide performs tasks such as measuring vital signs, cleaning instruments, stocking treatment areas, escorting patients, acting as chaperone, transporting patients, delivering and collecting items, and handling clerical duties like ordering supplies and printing electronic patient materials.

What You’ll Do
  • Transport and escort patients within the center and to other departments.
  • Clean and stock examining rooms and designated areas.
  • Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment.
  • Perform general service duties including delivering items, answering phones, and photocopying.
  • Assist patients with gown changes.
  • Relay patient concerns to healthcare team members.
Qualifications
What you bring
  • Grade 10 completion.
  • Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent experience.
  • Registered with BC Care Aide Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Peoples' health disparities, systemic racism, and commitment to anti-racism and cultural safety.
  • Understanding of legislative obligations related to Indigenous rights and anti-racism policies.
Core Competencies
  • Understanding of Indigenous-specific and systemic racism, with leadership in promoting inclusivity and cultural safety.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political impacts of colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and related legislative commitments.
You Have
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to perform duties.
  • Keyboarding speed of 40 w.p.m.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate related equipment and computer software.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning about Indigenous health issues and anti-racism.

Job Type: Casual

Wage: $29.83/hour

Location: 600 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver, BC

Hours: Rotating shifts 0800-1600, 0830-1630
