Position Summary

As a member of the Non OHIP Patient Program, the PATIENT AMBASSADOR performs multiple and individual service support activities in adherence to established policies, procedures, guidelines, schedules and formats. The Patient Ambassador is responsible for the patient flow through a program for self-pay and/or third party payers

Duties

  • Performing customer service responsibilities, payment and collection responsibilities, account receivable reconciliation activities, clerical support services and assisting with patient coordination.
  • Consults with and engages appropriate staff members, physicians, policies and others to help facilitate the course of a patient’s journey.
  • Develops and maintains fundamental strong relationships with clinical teams, external partners and other stakeholders by consulting, problem-solving cases and providing ongoing direction to self-pay and or third party payers.


Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary Office Administration certificate program, or recognized preferred.
  • At minimum a 3-year community college program in Business Administration or recognized equivalent, required.
  • At minimum, 1 – 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Previous on-the-job word processing and spreadsheet experience required
  • Experience working in a Microsoft Office software environment an asset.
  • Experience working in a health care environment an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve clinic/client/customer problems in a diplomatic manner required.
  • General knowledge of office practices, processes and procedures required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology an asset.
  • Ability to deal effectively with difficult clients and conflicting situations required.
  • Ability to anticipate and tune - in to customer’s unique needs required.
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with Hospital standards.
  • Flexibility required to keep pace with an ever-changing environment.
  • Standard First/Aid Basic Rescuer Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) certification an asset.
