Job Summary

The PAA is responsible for coordinating patient flow and activities, providing administrative services for the inpatient care unit, and maintaining patient records, staffing, scheduling, payroll, and administrative support to the care unit.

Qualifications and Skills
  • One year of Community College education required.
  • Medical Terminology course preferred.
  • Must successfully complete Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s PAA training within the specified timeframe.
  • One year of administrative/business experience required; healthcare setting experience preferred.
  • Commitment to person-centred care principles.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word/Windows required.
  • Proven accurate keyboarding skills at 40 net w.p.m. or data entry at 106 net keystrokes per minute.
  • Ability to organize work effectively, adapt, and work in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral, written, comprehension).
  • Tact and diplomacy in handling confidential information; sensitivity when working with oncology patients and families.
  • Ability to work effectively in an interprofessional team environment.
