Job description

Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital is recruiting for a Canadian Royal College certified General Pathologist, or board certified anatomic and clinical pathologist (AP/CP), for a three-person practice.

Our group performs approximately 8500 surgical pathology cases per year. Primary responsibilities will include general surgical pathology and cytology case sign out and clinical pathology case sign out (e.g. peripheral blood smears, bone marrow biopsies) as well as transfusion medicine and local laboratory oversight. There is also the opportunity for medical directorship of rural area labs. Autopsies are not currently performed at this site.

The ideal candidate will have recent clinical pathology experience, with strong skills in surgical pathology and laboratory diagnostics, including transfusion medicine and hematopathology. The candidate will need to be comfortable with independent practice in a small group environment. Daily quality assurance videoconference is done with other Interior Health pathologists, to share interesting or difficult cases. Intramural or extramural consultation for challenging or unusual cases is readily available, including outside consultation at academic medical center sites in Vancouver. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to relate well with laboratory staff, clinicians, and administration.

We are excited to add a new graduate or experienced pathologist to our team in the West Kootenays! The region offers an abundance of activities for outdoor enthusiasts and has opportunities for the arts and culture seeker as well. Join our welcoming community where there is something for everyone! Apply today and explore the exciting opportunities for the lifestyle of your dreams. Email your CV to PhysicianRecruitment@interiorhealth.ca
