LOCATION : PCK Intellectual Property (“PCK”) is a leading boutique IP firm known for its strong patent drafting practice, acting before the USPTO, WIPO, and European Patent Office. We protect innovations across software, telecommunications, medical devices, mechanical engineering, chemistry, and more.

Our co-founders are authors of Canadian Patent Law (5th edition), a treatise cited by the Supreme Court of Canada, highlighting our leadership in IP law. We value diversity, inclusion, and a positive, supportive workplace where our team thrives.

We are seeking a patent agent to lead and grow PCK’s presence in Kitchener-Waterloo. This role offers significant autonomy with support from our Toronto team. Responsibilities include:

  1. Spearheading PCK’s presence in KW and managing client relationships.
  2. Fostering connections within the tech community.
  3. Serving as a trusted advisor to startups, scale-ups, and established tech companies.
  4. Engaging with Communitech and the KW innovation ecosystem to build PCK’s brand.
  5. Performing patentability searches, landscape analyses, and FTO assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Registered patent agent (CPATA Class 1 or 2 preferred). Applications from foreign-licensed agents with strong experience and willingness to pursue CPATA licensing are welcome.
  • Engineering, computer science, or scientific degree required.
  • Qualifications as a lawyer and/or trademark agent are assets but not mandatory.
