Job summary

The Miller Tavern is seeking a passionate Pastry Cook in Toronto to join our culinary team. You will report to the Executive Chef and Pastry Chef, crafting innovative pastry recipes and plating premium desserts for guests.

Responsibilities include managing daily pastry tasks, creating desserts per menu, inspecting ingredients, developing recipes, costing, and ensuring food safety. Strong leadership, communication, and a positive work ethic are essential in our fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of Baking/pastry experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Great attention to detail with a creative flair.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism.

  • Responsible for creating and preparing desserts in accordance with existing menu
  • Inspect the quality of ingredients and accurately measure them for specific recipes
  • Develop and execute recipes to the highest standards
  • Assist the Pastry Chef in researching, developing, and costing of recipes; consistently thriving to upgrade food quality and presentation
  • Ensure compliance with food handling safety regulation, health and safety workplace policies and procedures
  • Attend meetings where required and communicate to all staff RE: policies and practices as they align with business practices

Job description

PASTRY COOK will report to the Executive Chef and Pastry Chef. He/She will play a key role in crafting innovative pastry recipes to produce premium quality desserts for our guests. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional work ethic, a passion and enthusiasm for the profession, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

  • Completion of related pastry culinary program
  • Food Safe certification is an asset

  • Great attention to detail with a creative flair
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Must be energetic with a passion for food and a positive outlook
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism (i.e. punctuality, commitment to the job, well-groomed, mannerly, great team work etc.)
  • Long periods of standing and walking is required
  • Repetitive use of hands, dexterity, bending down
