Job description

The Pastry Cook will have the ability to create unique offerings for our guests. The candidate will assist in maintaining Freehand Hospitality pastry standards and will help to produce a dessert program with a strong focus on ice creams, frozen desserts, and doughnuts.

The Day-to-Day :

  1. Assist in the day-to-day activities of the pastry kitchen team
  2. Lead by example as a hands-on Pastry Cook, ensuring the quality and consistency of all products served.
  3. Ensure that all food is prepared to the standards set out by the Executive Pastry Chef
  4. Control food costs by maintaining accurate records of all pastry ingredients
  5. Ensure all products are prepared and in store on time for opening
  6. Minimize food waste
  7. Follow operating procedures and address organizational issues impacting effectiveness
  8. Adhere to health, safety, and cleanliness standards, correcting deficiencies as needed
  9. Handle special requests and guest allergies to ensure guest health and satisfaction
  10. Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of two years of progressive experience in pastry
  • Knowledge of new trends in presentation and preparation
  • Self-starter with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Culinary degree or diploma is an asset
  • Knowledge of ice cream and doughnut preparation is an asset
