Job description

Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.

The Parts Technician / Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for providing support within the Fleet department, ensuring that all crews have appropriate and sufficient tools to successfully complete daily construction demands. This position also provides essential support to the Shop Supervisor, ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly maintained, organized, and readily available to meet the demands of the crews.

  • Manage and track inventory, including maintenance parts stock and material flow for all crews in accordance with production schedules or construction priorities.
  • Oversee tool crib operations, ensuring accurate inventory tracking.
  • Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials to meet project needs.
  • Manage shipping and receiving operations, ensuring timely distribution of parts and materials.
  • Assisting with testing ground chains and jacks.
  • Helping with the mobilization of equipment to and from project sites.
  • Compile and maintain computerized records related to inventory, materials, and logistics.
  • Work closely with the Shop Supervisor to manage all relevant fleet documents, administrative tasks, and compliance items.
  • Manage various spreadsheets and ensure data accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, within the area of knowledge and skills required by the job description.
  • Monitor inventory stocking levels, obsolescence, and parts purchases for both manufacturer and aftermarket parts and accessories.
  • Organize, log, and maintain parts stock inventory.
  • Conduct annual physical inventory and reconciliation.
  • Prepare and maintain routine records and travel logs.
  • Establish and maintain various records, files, and operational systems using computer software.
  • Compile data and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Effectively operate a vehicle and participate in receiving, storage, and distribution operations.
  • Map and plan daily parts pick-up routes.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Parts Inter-Provincial Trade Certification or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience, including tool crib management, inventory tracking, and supply chain management.
  • 1A Driver's License required.
  • Methods and procedures pertaining to receiving, processing, storing and distribution of a variety of parts and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage constant interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and diplomatically, demonstrating cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Proven adaptability to various work environments and the ability to fulfill daily priorities and spontaneous demands.
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of the powerline trade and warehouse operations are assets.
