JOB TITLE : Partnership Officer

DUTY STATION (City Country) : Duty Station Rome / Fully Remote / Ottawa Canada

Background and Purpose of Assignment :

The GPC Division aims to ensure that the needs of the people we serve are fully met and that Member States are effectively supported in achieving Zero Hunger and Agenda 2030. GPC engages with governments the private sector UN agencies international financial institutions academia think-tanks NGOs and the public at large through HQ and Global Offices.

WFPs partnership function has evolved significantly over the past decade building on a series of global and corporate strategies. Partnerships are crucial levers to achieve Zero Hunger. Proactive advocacy effective positioning trends analysis and engagement enable WFP to strengthen both operational and resourcing partnerships to maximize impact. WFP recognizes that there is no effective partnering without prior positioning & advocacy.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of the GPCA Key Accounts Team the Partnership Officer will perform the following duties as an enabler and influencer focused primarily on strengthening WFP support to the field and to select resource mobilization and advocacy activities :

ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Advise functional units RBs and COs on partnership strategies; extend support / guidance on quality proposal writing; strategic engagement with the Government of Canada.
  • Drive positioning with partners on WFPs corporate value proposition in specific thematic areas and country / regional contexts using tailored content and language that speaks to individual partner audiences and aligns with on-going policy dialogue in national and global fora.
  • Identify and provide key opportunities and data to field through promotion of use of Salesforce amongst team for sharing intelligence and assessing results.
  • Develop creation of multi-year donor engagement strategy for Canada.
  • Design and lead development of annual flexible funding communications workplan including coverage for Canada and other GPCA donors.
  • Develop guidelines and promote platforms for individual Canadian giving.
  • Contribute to HQ processes and documents as necessary
  • Ensure donor visibility for GPCA donors with support from GPOs and CAM Officers.
  • Other tasks as requested.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT :

  • RB and CO support through presentations and responsive technical assistance
  • Proactive pursuit of non GAC-humanitarian funding opportunities
  • Salesforce stakeholder tracking pilot development and implementation
  • Canada multiyear strategy aligned with WFP corporate strategy and operations plan
  • Quarterly communications plan focused on flexible funding development of annual reporting and related advocacy materials
  • QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Education : Degree in related field of global development at Masters level.

    Desired experiences for entry into the role :

  • Has experience in developing new and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
  • Has developed long-term partner relationships and gained significant experience in expanding engagements across geographies and sectors.
  • Has led and promoted data-based decision making to enable internal stakeholders to make well informed decisions.
  • Has created external messaging to function according to geography and thematic interests of stakeholders.
  • Has contributed to innovation of system improvements and partner intelligence platforms.
  • Has utilized digital solutions to improve client services.
  • Minimum eight or more years of relevant professional experience in partnership roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant finance management experience
