About UsFounded in 1960, the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is one of the largest and most comprehensive non-profit agencies in Ottawa and a registered charity. It provides mental health services, employment programs, emergency shelter, community health and housing services, and justice programs to youth in the Ottawa area, serving between 2,500 and 3,000 at-risk individuals aged 12+ and their families every month. YSB employs 350 caring professionals in a unionized environment in over 26 locations across Ottawa.
The RoleThe People, Culture and Belonging (P&C) is one of generalist positions within the People, Culture and Belonging Team. The role ensures the delivery of comprehensive, high quality and timely P&C solutions to a designated client group and is positioned as a strategic partner to Program Directors and Coordinators for efficient talent management.
What You Will Do- Support managers in attracting and retaining talent, through innovative recruitment and engagement strategies;
- Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout YSB’s recruitment process by upholding the highest industry standards, including prompt communication with applicants;
- Manage the onboarding process and conduct periodic new hire check-ins to ensure the successful integration of employees in our workforce;
- Manage employment contracts, ensuring offers, transfers, extensions and notice letters are issued in a timely manner;
- Provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on the correct interpretation of the collective agreement and HR policies;
- In collaboration with the People, Culture and Belonging Administrator, advise employees on their benefits and entitlements;
- Manage disability and sick leaves for a designated client group, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of required documentation to support claims;
- Provide guidance and support to employees experiencing occupational and non-occupational illness or injury;
- Oversee the performance management process and organize periodic coaching sessions for managers;
- Conduct exit interviews and gather feedback for continuous improvement;
- Remain up-to-date with labor legislations and the evolving P&C best practices;
- Assist employees with their day-to-day P&C needs.
This Opportunity May Be Right For You If- You hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Psychology, Business Administration or a related field (or a combination of education and experience);
- You have 5+ years of experience providing generalist P&C services;
- You are thoroughly knowledgeable or eager to learn about innovative P&C solutions;
- You are organized, have great attention to details and truly care about the quality of your work;
- You are known for your interpersonal skills and are able to be empathetic to the needs of employees and co-workers;
- You are passionate and bring energy to the organizational culture;
- Your decision making and problem solving skills are sharp;
- Your written and verbal communication skills are strong;
- Your sense of ethics and professionalism is high and you are able to keep confidential information;
- You are able to work with minimal supervision and willing to travel to YSB’s different locations in Ottawa.

- You have complete fluency in English and French;
