Job description

GFL Environmental is looking for a Part-Time Yard Attendant to join our Victoria, BC team!

A Yard Attendant is responsible for safely and efficiently performing general labor duties at a transfer station, materials recycling facility (MRF), or landfill. Responsibilities include yard clean-up, directing customers, and assisting customers.

Please note: this is a part-time position offering 2 days a week: Monday and Saturday.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean up work areas
• Work in accordance with Company and federal, provincial, and local safety policies & procedures
• Direct traffic at the site as necessary
• Perform other duties as required or requested by management

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to follow instructions and perform duties with limited supervision
• Ability to apply common sense reasoning to solve problems

Physical and Mental Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift outdoors for 90% of the time
• Manually lift/move up to 65 pounds regularly
• Manually push/move up to 100 pounds with assistance

Working Conditions:

• Frequent exposure to loud noise, humidity, rain/storms, extreme hot and cold weather, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles
• Work predominantly outdoors
