Job summary

The Corporation of the City of Timmins is seeking part-time bus drivers for Timmins Transit. Successful candidates will safely operate buses on assigned routes and deliver courteous service on a flexible schedule.

This posting notes a starting wage of $30.98 per hour (2026) with CUPE Local 1544. Applicants must have Grade XII, a CZ license, and the ability to obtain a Para-Transit qualification.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) education or equivalency.
• Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely and possess a Class CZ driver’s licence.
• Ability to be Para-Transit qualified.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, staff and outside agencies in a courteous and effective manner.
• Prior customer service experience preferred.
• Be able to work a flexible work schedule including shift work and weekend work.
• Have good knowledge of City streets, bus routes and schedules.
• Ability to perform service duties in garage (if required).
• Ability to compile various reports.
• Clear Driver’s Abstract required.
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Timmins Transit buses and transport passengers on assigned routes within route times.
• Create a positive experience for transit users by providing safe, reliable and friendly service.
• Required to participate and support the City of Timmins Continuous Improvement Program in order to help foster a culture of operational excellence.
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
