Job summary

Wasauksing First Nation is seeking a part-time School Bus Driver for the academic year, Sept to June. Duties include daily safety checks, student pickup/drop-off, logbooks submission, and regular reporting to the principal.

Applicants should have an E license (B preferred), basic vehicle knowledge, strong communication, and flexibility for evenings/weekends with a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Minimum E license; B license preferred.
• Familiar with Highway Traffic Act and school bus regulations.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
• Experience interacting with students and enforcing rules.
• Good knowledge of Wasauksing First Nation and Parry Sound geography.
• Anishnaabemowin language knowledge is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety checks of bus interior and exterior.
• Follow schedule of student pickup and drop-off times.
• Maintain Ontario School Bus Inspection Logbook and Daily Drivers Time Logbook; report weekly.
• Report repairs and issues to the principal; ensure student safety.
• Maintain order among students and enforce rules.
• Maintain bus in good mechanical condition; report deficiencies.
• Clean interior daily; exterior as needed; restock supplies.
• Follow MTO regulations for school bus drivers.
• Be flexible with hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with clean driving record.
• Provide vulnerable sector/criminal record check.
