Part Time – Room Attendant (Teen Academy) – MFCAA

The Teen Academy program is a summer work + internship program that began in 2016 at the IHG Army Hotel in Joint Force Base San Antonio. In 2017, other IHG Army Hotels adopted similar programs, leading to a portfolio-wide initiative.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Provide teens with skills development and real hotel work experience.
  • Help develop a strong work ethic while offering a rewarding summer experience.
  • Promote strong family values and demonstrate IHG’s Winning Ways and commitment to True Hospitality, emphasizing a healthy lifestyle.
  • Build appreciation for hardworking parents and relatives who support the family.

The Teen Academy is designed as a 10-week program, with duration subject to local school schedules. The program occurs during summer months when school is out. Participating teens may not work more than 40 hours per week, with core hours from 0800 to 1600.

Requirements from Participants
  • Ages 14 to 16, compliant with federal and state labor laws.
  • Willing to learn various roles including Houseperson, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Breakfast Attendant.
  • Must have transportation and access to the post.
  • Must have a family member working at the hotel; the sponsoring employee must have no active Corrective Actions.
  • Teens will undergo an interview process with the GM, HM, OM, and HR Manager.
  • If hired, teens and sponsoring employees must sign necessary forms, including Job Description, Teen Academy Agreement, and liability release, along with providing age and work permits prior to program start.

If the sponsoring employee is not the teen's parent or guardian, parental signatures and certificates are also required.
