Job summary

McGill University in Montreal seeks a part-time Research Assistant 1 to support Prof. Szkopek’s graphene sensor projects.

You will design and optimize test fixtures, assist in graphene transistor fabrication and testing, and document results across a multidisciplinary team in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field and hands-on experience with mechanical systems, instrumentation, and microfluidics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline such as mechanical, electrical, applied science, or physics.
• Experience in design and implementation of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with electronic instrumentation, microfluidics, additive manufacturing, and system integration is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabrication, test, and iterative improvement of fixtures including electrical contacts, mechanical assembly, and liquid flow cell access for graphene ISFET sensors.
• Document design, fabrication and test results including device yield.
• Assist with graphene transistor fabrication and testing.
• Support design and implementation of research instrumentation as needed.
