Position Title: Part Time Professor - Mechatronics Engineering
Status: Contract - Semester-by-semester basis
Hours: Varies - Up to 12 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology
Campus/Location: North Campus
Salary: Academic starting pay is determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.
About the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology at Humber:
The Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology (FAST) at Humber College offers a dynamic and innovative learning environment, combining academic theory with hands-on practice in fields such as cybersecurity, engineering, embedded systems, and skilled trades. With cutting-edge facilities, applied research projects, and strong industry connections, FAST prepares students for careers in emerging technologies and complex systems. Faculty members play an integral role in advancing research and developing future leaders in technology and applied sciences.
About The Role
The successful candidate will be required to teach courses in the Mechatronics Engineering program within the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology for Robotics instruction.
You will be responsible for preparing and delivering course materials based on learning outcomes that are supplied to you for specific courses. You will also administer assessments in a timely fashion and submit grades. The incumbent will teach, develop curriculum, design/revise specific courses, create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students, assess student progress and achievement; work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in committees and related associations. Teaching will be assigned at the North campus.
Duration of Teaching Assignment: Winter, Summer, and/or Fall Semesters (January-April, May-August, September-December)

Education
- The successful candidate will have a M.Sc. (Ph.D. preferred) in Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field of study with hands on industry experience in Robotics.
- The successful candidate must have Professional Engineer License in Province of Ontario (PEng).
Experience/Skills
The successful candidate must have polytechnic post-secondary teaching experience, or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry.
In addition, the successful candidate will have engaging and effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, demonstrated experience managing classroom dynamics, strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles, a student focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion, be a collaborative team player and be committed to a positive team culture. The successful candidate will possess well developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery.
