Part-Time Professor, Civil Engineering Technology

Join Conestoga College as a Part-Time Professor in Civil Engineering Technology.

Position Overview

Conestoga College is a leader in polytechnic education, offering career-focused programs that prepare students for success and support industry needs.

We are seeking a qualified professional to teach the course 'Land Development and Planning (CIVL3170)' part-time from September to December 2025. This course covers civil engineering aspects of land development, including site investigation, design, construction, grading, site layout, servicing, traffic flow, and environmental assessment.

The successful candidate will be required to teach three hours per week on-site at Conestoga’s Cambridge campus, located at 850 Fountain St. S. Classes are scheduled Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with courses typically lasting three to six hours per week over a 14-week term.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain current, relevant, and high-quality curriculum aligned with industry best practices.
  • Develop strategies for facilitating and assessing student progress.
  • Deliver instruction through online, classroom, and computer-assisted methods.
  • Communicate course objectives and evaluation criteria clearly to students.
  • Assess student work and maintain accurate records.
  • Support students using eConestoga and D2L learning management system.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment respecting diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Collaborate effectively within the department and college.

Qualifications

  • Three-year diploma or degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Relevant work experience in land development and planning.
  • Experience with curriculum development is an asset.
  • Proficiency with computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L).
  • Strong presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to relate to students at various skill levels, including international students and those requiring accommodations.
