The Municipality of Lambton Shores has a dedicated crew of part time/on call firefighters committed to providing fire protection, prevention, and public education services to the community.

Firefighters play an important role in keeping the community safe from fire and other hazards. If you are dedicated, have excellent teamwork skills, and maintain good health and physical fitness, then consider joining our team! Firefighting is a great way to learn valuable skills, give back to your community, and earn extra income.

Firefighters are required to attend and respond to:

  • Medical calls
  • Technical rescue calls
  • Wildfires
  • Motor vehicle collisions
  • Weekly or biweekly training nights
  • Incidents that are traumatic and could involve members of your community
  • Volunteer activities, such as Christmas Food Drives

Firefighters should be:

  • Comfortable with small or tight spaces
  • Comfortable with heights
  • Calm under pressure
  • Good at following and understanding directions
  • Willing to wear a pager 24/7
  • Available to respond to calls at all hours of the day and night, in all weather conditions
  • Aware of the physical demands of the job, including wearing approximately 100lbs of gear at emergency incidents

Our recruitment process consists of a formal application, physical ability testing, interview, health and medical testing, and submission of required documents.

Note: Successful candidates will be required to attend mandatory training. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 Certification and other registered training will commence at a date to be determined.
