Job Title:Part -time Marketing, Communications Manager
Location:Remote Work –4 days/week, with the opportunity to become full-time
Organization: Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra
Reports To:Executive Director

Position Overview:
The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra is seeking a creative and strategic Part-Time Marketing and Communications Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing and implementing marketing and communications strategies to promote the orchestra’s concerts, fundraising campaigns, and community engagement efforts.

The Marketing and Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping the public image of the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony Orchestra. This individual will be responsible for crafting innovative strategies to enhance the orchestra’s visibility, while effectively communicating its mission and impact to diverse audiences. Success in this role requires a blend of creativity, analytical acumen, and a passion for the arts.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with strong communication skills, an understanding of the arts and nonprofit sectors, and experience in marketing, communications and event management.

The ideal candidate will excel in both traditional marketing and digital communication. They will bring a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for collaboration and innovation, ensuring the orchestra remains both relevant and accessible to a wide range of audiences.

It is expected that the successful candidate will reside in the Region of Waterloo since successful candidate will be expected to bring a strategic perspective to both short-term campaigns and long-term positioning. They will engage with stakeholders, including patrons, sponsors, and the local community, to foster strong relationships that support the orchestra’s mission and objectives. In addition to managing the orchestra’s branding and storytelling efforts, this role will involve collaborating across departments to ensure a cohesive message and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing & Communications:

Develop and execute comprehensive marketing campaigns to promote the orchestra’s concerts, events, and programs.

Manage the orchestra’s social media channels, website, email marketing, and digital content to increase audience engagement and brand awareness.

Create promotional materials including print advertisements, press releases, newsletters, and digital content.

Collaborate with graphic designers, photographers, and other vendors for marketing assets.

Collaborate with the orchestra’s artistic team to align marketing efforts with the programming vision and artistic goals.

Monitor trends in arts marketing to identify new and innovative strategies that can enhance audience development and retention.

Coordinate media outreach and manage relationships with local press, radio, and other media outlets.

Track and analyze marketing campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement

Development:

Collaborate with the fundraising committee to strategize and implement Initiatives aimed at increasing donor engagement and support. This includes creating compelling marketing materials for fundraising campaigns, assisting with donor communications, and identifying opportunities to align development goals with outreach efforts. Work closely with sponsors and patrons to strengthen relationships and foster a culture of philanthropy within the community.

Administrative & Reporting:

Provide regular reports on marketing and efforts to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Prepare regular reports on marketing activities and performance metrics, ensuring all campaigns align with organizational objectives. Assist with the management of the orchestra’s CRM database, ensuring donor and audience information is current and accurate.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Arts Administration, or a related field preferred.

3+ years of experience in marketing, development, or a similar role (preferably in a nonprofit or arts environment).

Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and content management.

Experience in Marketing, Communications and development.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Passion for the arts and commitment to advancing the mission of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony orchestra.

Schedule & Compensation:

This is a part-time position, 4 days/week position

Flexible hours with the possibility of remote work, though some in-person attendance for events and meetings is required.
