Part Time Home Family Support Worker – Baby Steps

The Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc. - EGADZ is seeking a Home Family Support Worker for a permanent part-time position to provide a safe and supportive environment within the Baby Steps Program. The role involves offering mothers support, structure, and guidance to help them regain custody of their children in care. (Shift work includes day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts)

Baby Steps emphasizes the importance of parental involvement in case plans concerning their children and personal needs to achieve long-term success. The program adheres to the Youth Centered Continuum of Care, fostering partnerships among government and non-government agencies to teach skills that improve outcomes for mothers and their children.

EGADZ is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services for hard-to-serve youth in Saskatoon, with a mission to encourage and support them in making choices that enhance their quality of life.

Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Education or post-secondary education in human services, or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on experience with children and youth
  • Demonstrates and practices a healthy lifestyle
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with youth, staff, and partner agencies
  • Knowledge of community agencies and resources
  • Basic understanding of nutrition values
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of computers and Windows OS
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and issues
  • Understanding of EGADZ and its mission
  • Training in CPR and ASIST (completion within first 6 months of employment)
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record; driver’s abstract required within 3 months
  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance within 6 months

Starting wage: $23.10 per hour
