Oxford Learning Mississauga Central is seeking a part-time High School Math & Science Teacher-Tutor to help students in Grades 9–12. In-person role with evenings and Saturday shifts, following our pre-planned lessons and Ontario curriculum.

Applicants should have a strong math and science background, be comfortable with pre-planned curricula, and reside near Mississauga. Training and ongoing development are provided.

Our hours count! Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Mississauga Central is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Candidates must possess a strong background in both math and all sciences (Biology, Chemistry & Physics), and must be comfortable teaching students in Grades 9 - 12 at all levels. You must also be familiar with the Ontario curriculum.

Position Requirements

• Candidates MUST be available Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 8:00pm, as well as Saturdays (10:00am - 2:00pm). A commitment for the whole school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.
• This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. Relocation packages are not available. This is not an online position.
• Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
• Applicants must reside in or within a short commute of the Mississauga area.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification an asset
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and Calculus, and vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology.

Experience

• Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
