Job summary

Oxford Learning Mississauga Central in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking a Part-time High School Math & Physics Tutor to work in-person with Grade 9–12 students. The role requires evenings Monday to Thursday 4:00pm–8:00pm and Saturdays 10:00am–2:00pm.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree or related certification; teaching certification is an asset. Strong math and science knowledge and excellent English communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Experience tutoring Grade 9–12 math and science.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Ability to tutor up to three students simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
• Teach online and in-person.
• Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
• Fill in post-lesson notes.
• Complete daily student communication updates.
• Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.

Part-Time High School Math & Physics Tutor

Employment Type: Part Time

Pay: $20.00 to $21.00 per hour

Position Requirements

Candidates MUST be available Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 8:00pm, as well as Saturdays (10:00am - 2:00pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not offered.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification an asset
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math and including, but not limited to, Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and Calculus, vectors, and physics.

Experience

• Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
