Job summary

Oxford Learning Burlington North is seeking a part‑time French teacher/tutor to work with small groups of up to three students after school. Use the provided curriculum; no lesson planning required.

Evening hours 3:00 pm–8:00 pm on weekdays and some Saturdays, with potential for summer continuation. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, strong English/French skills, and teaching experience with Grades 9–12 French.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field required.
  • Experience tutoring French at Grades 9-12 or equivalent preferred.
  • Teaching certification is an asset for the role.
  • Strong English communication and French language skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to three students at a time using the provided curriculum.
  • Guide students through the curriculum in French.
  • Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Complete post-lesson notes after each session.
  • Provide daily student communication updates to parents/guardians.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor at all times.

French Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Eager to help students turn “Je ne sais pas” into “Oh la la”? Motivated to help support children’s French education outside of the classroom?

Join the team at Oxford Learning Burlington North as a part‑time French teacher/tutor/coach. You will have small class sizes, a maximum of three students per teacher, and will use the provided curriculum. Teachers do not need to lesson plan.

Position Requirements

All Teacher‑Tutors work 2-4 evenings during after‑school and evening hours (3:00 pm - 8:00 pm) and some Saturdays (9:00 am - 12:00 pm). A commitment until the end of the school year is preferred. Continuing through the summer is even better. This role is in‑person; relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 French core curriculum

Experience

  • Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9-12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities

Pay: $19 - $22 per hour

Schedule:

  • Evenings: Monday to Thursday 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm
  • Saturdays 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
