Job Description:

Under the direction of the Executive Chef, the incumbent is responsible for the preparation and packaging of sandwiches, artisanal sandwiches wraps, fruits vegetables and other packaged products for all areas of the Food Services operations within the College community, while providing fast & efficient service at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare sandwiches, artisanal sandwiches, wraps fruits, vegetables, other packaged Grab n’ Go items and banquet catering requirements according to established recipes, ensuring proper count, quality and presentation standards are adhered to;

  • Package and seal food using approved packaging;

  • Ensures proper identification of product, production dates and appropriate storage procedures for all salad and grab n go items;

  • Unlock refrigeration and storage area;

  • Check daily production sheets and notes any changes;

  • Gather all product necessary for daily production and washes fresh produce;

  • Take stock of grab n Go items and update all production sheets reflective of par stock requirements;

  • Prepare any banquet/catering items needed for breakfast or early lunch service;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Secondary School (Grade 12) diploma;

  • Experience in a food service related industry and knowledge of food preparation an asset;

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi task;

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team atmosphere;

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure;

  • Ability of providing speedy, efficient, courteous and tactful service;

  • Ability to lift, bend, push, pull and stock a variety of merchandise;

  • Ability to work flexible hours if required.

Anticipated Weekly Schedule:

  • Weekly Schedule: 7:00am - 12:30pm (Mon to Thurs) 7:00am - 11:00am (Fri) - 24 hours/week

  • Anticipated start date- 12th May 2025.

* This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin College’s Woodroffe (Ottawa) Campus

* Note: this is a permanent part time position. Applicants must be able to fulfill the weekly schedule shown above.
