Key Responsibilities:
- Unpacks and distributesall food containers from caterer and get ready for next day pick up.
- Organizes, prepares,and sets up for morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack; checks allergylist and place appropriate food / milk substitutions for individualchildren on room trays; takes temperature of food prior to serving intoserving dishes; cover food with lid or wrap; store food in appropriatebins.
- Checks food received indelivery bin from Caterer and checks temp and document; label and datefood; rotate stock; check for spoilage.
- Documents actions onmonthly record sheets; ensures that appropriate menus are posted forparents and staff referral; checks with manager to ensure that FoodRestrictions are up-to-date and posted in kitchen and playrooms.
- Maintains allappliances including the dishwasher, freezer, fridge, oven, and stove bycleaning and completing all applicable tasks related to each appliance.
- Cleans, disinfects, andwipes counter tops/shelves/pantry/bins/sinks/service trolleys.
- Flushes all water tapsfor five minutes; submits flush and temperature logs to office.
- Maintains floors bysweeping and washing.
- Provides support to thestaff and program by transferring laundry from washer to dryer; assistswith “sleep time” and other routines when needed.
- Other related duties asassigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum Secondary School completion or equivalency.
- Food Service Worker Certificate (preference) or several completed courses from certificate in progress, along with successful completion of the Food Handler’s course and Safety awareness.
- One year minimum experience working in a busy food service environment preferably in a health or service industry.
- Fundamental knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS.
- First aid certificate and Clear Criminal Record Check are required.
- Job duties require recurring periods of moderate physical effort and periods of moderate lifting.

- Ability to exhibit excellent communication skillsand interpersonal skills with the teaching staff, children, families, andall stakeholders; willingness to provide a service that enhances dignityand respect; high level of flexibility, must be courteous and patient.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a busy, noisyenvironment with interruptions while remaining calm and organized to meetthe day to daytime lines.
- Demonstrated ability to perform various cleaningduties, must be thorough and conscientious.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision anddisplay good judgment and have excellent problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimalsupervision; strong time-management skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment in delivering excellentservice to others as this is key in supporting the success of our studentsand our College.
- Flexibility in adapting to change and inparticipating in consultative decision-making processes.
