Job summary

The Town of Whitby is seeking a part-time Fitness Programmer to join our Recreation & Parks team. You will oversee the health club and program operations, conduct fitness assessments, and design exercise prescriptions to help clients achieve their goals.

Reporting to the Manager of Fitness and Aquatic Services, you will deliver high-quality customer service in the health club, support public relations in the recreation centre, enforce health club standards, and perform other duties as assigned,

Qualifications

• Diploma from a recognized post‑secondary institution in Recreation/Fitness Centre Leadership.
• CPR/AED (Level C or HCP) and Standard First Aid certification.
• Current CSEP-CPT certification (CSEP certification is a REQUIREMENT).
• Clear written and oral communication.
• Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.
• Police criminal record check for working with the vulnerable sector.
• Able to work Fridays to Sundays; evenings and weekends.

Reporting to the Manager of Fitness and Aquatic Services, the Part-time Fitness Programmer is responsible for:

• health club and program supervision;
• fitness assessments;
• exercise correction and prescription;
• client personal training;
• customer service in the health club;
• public relations in the recreation centre;
• enforcing all established Health Club standards, procedure, protocols with patrons; and
• performing other duties as may be assigned.

What You Bring To Our Team

As the successful applicant you must possess:

• A diploma from a recognized post‑secondary institution in Recreation/Fitness Centre Leadership;
• certification in CPR/AED (Level C or HCP) and Standard First Aid;
• current CSEP-CPT certification (CSEP certification is a REQUIREMENT for this position)
• the ability to communicate orally and in written form in a clear and concise manner;
• well-developed interpersonal and public relations skills; and
• a valid, satisfactory police criminal record check to work with the vulnerable sector.
• Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. We are seeking Friday - Sunday availability.

Salary Range/Hourly Rate

$28.18 - $31.32
