Part-Time Field Camera Operator

Who we're looking for:

Rogers Sports and Media is seeking a Part-Time Field Camera Operator/Editor to enhance the CityNews/OMNI Television brands. As our news operation evolves to produce more content in the field, you will play a key role in transforming storytelling to better engage our digital audience.

What you'll do:
  1. Cover diverse city and community events daily and nightly.
  2. Creatively capture interviews, events, and newsworthy visuals.
  3. Interview witnesses or principals at story locations and pass relevant information to the newsroom.
  4. Collaborate with journalists on daily assignments.
  5. Review and edit content using field-based Grass Valley hardware/software into broadcast-ready packages.
  6. Transmit content to cloud platforms for online publication.
  7. Generate enterprise story ideas based on insights and experiences.
  8. Monitor digital/social media trends.
  9. Troubleshoot technical issues.
  10. Use audience insights to inform stories and production.
  11. Live-stream from the field regularly to grow digital audiences.
  12. Deliver content in various formats with necessary elements on deadline.
  13. Build graphic elements using newsroom software and ensure data accuracy for broadcast.

All employees are expected to work onsite at least four days per week starting October 6, 2025, increasing to five days from February 2, 2026, to foster in-person collaboration.
