Job summary

The Town of Tillsonburg is seeking a Facilities Custodian to work primarily at the Tillsonburg Community Centre. The role involves daily facility and grounds tasks, housekeeping, room set ups and tear downs, and assisting the public during events. A strong emphasis on safety and teamwork is required.

Applicants must have Grade 12, First Aid, basic computer skills, and a valid G license. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds is needed; OMERS pension option is available for eligible employees.

Qualifications

• Minimum grade 12 or equivalent.
• Standard First Aid required.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• ORFA Recreation Facility Cleaning, Disinfection and Sanitization Principles or willingness to obtain on hire.
• Ability to work in a team and solve problems.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Valid Class G license with clean driver's record.
• Good communication skills.
• Previous facility housekeeping experience in an institutional setting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily/weekly facility, operational and housekeeping tasks.
• Set up and tear down of activity areas for events.
• Litter pickup and general grounds maintenance.
• Assist in training new custodial staff as required.
• Liaise with public and user groups for rentals and safety compliance.
• Maintain logs of work completed and records.
• Follow safety procedures and Ontario Health and Safety Act guidelines.
• Assist with horticultural work as needed.
