Job summary

The City of Vernon is seeking an Instructor for Early Childhood Education (ECE) to provide in-class support for licensed preschool programs. The role involves planning daily activities, guiding children with diverse abilities, and ensuring safety under supervision of the Community Recreation Manager.

Hours are 8:45am-12:15pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; additional hours may arise for illness or vacation coverage. This is a part-time on-site position in Vernon, BC.

Qualifications

• Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C.
• Acceptable Police Information Check with the Vulnerable Sector.
• Completion of Grade 12.
• Early Childhood Education Certificate.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Child Care or Preschool environment.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and supports structured preschool programs.
• Plans weekly themes and activities.
• Records progress and attendance; communicates with parents.
• Ensures participant safety and welfare; follows procedures.
• Sets up and takes down equipment and materials.
