A cashier at our Canadian Tire must have a friendly, outgoing personality. The role requires multitasking, situational awareness, maintaining a neat and tidy front end, and handling security processes—training will be provided. Some lifting is involved.

The cashier's primary responsibility is to process customer purchases efficiently and accurately while delivering courteous service. Your proficiency with the computerized cash register and interpersonal skills contribute to an enjoyable shopping experience for our customers.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Greet, assist, and thank customers in a friendly, courteous manner, using their names when possible.
• Operate all functions of the cash register and maintain the cash area.
• Process transactions efficiently following standardized procedures.
• Ask customers if they wish to use their Canadian Tire card.
• Verify merchandise quantities, descriptions, and prices accurately; balance cash.
• Maintain a professional appearance, including uniform, hygiene, grooming, and name tag.
• Report security concerns to management.
• Address customer inquiries or concerns to the appropriate department.
• Keep the merchandise around the cash area organized.
• Handle returns and restock products in their respective departments.
• Follow company, store, and department policies.
• Adhere to the store's health and safety program and provincial occupational health and safety regulations; report hazards immediately.
• Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
• Perform additional tasks as needed.
• Provide professional customer service at all times, including in conflict situations.
• Support and assist co-workers.
• Work effectively in a team environment to achieve shared goals.

• Walk, carry, push, and pull as required.
