Job summary

All Seniors Care is seeking a Bus Driver to operate a 16-passenger bus for residents at Victoria Landing Community. The role involves ensuring passenger safety, following directions, and upholding Resident Rights & Responsibilities.

Daily duties include driving, maintaining logs, assisting with residents' belongings and equipment, and coordinating with other departments to provide smooth, comfortable service. A Class 4 license is required and English proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class 4 driver's license.
• Ability to read, write and speak English and follow directions.
• Training courses or practical experience in equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Supervises safe and efficient operation of the bus and equipment, maintains high vehicle maintenance and cleanliness.
• Maintains a daily bus log including mileage and repairs.
• Assists in transporting residents’ belongings for trips.
• Receives and stores wheelchairs and related equipment for trips.
• Acts as a resource on vehicle equipment and checks its use and maintenance.
• Ensures security and cleaning of the bus; checks locks, doorbells, and emergency exits.
• Maintains inventory of vehicle maintenance and housekeeping supplies.
• Performs duties with minimal supervision.
• Cooperates with other departments to ensure smooth activities and resident comfort.
• Participates in the Quality Improvement Program.
• Performs other related duties as required.

8:30am to 4:30pm - 30 hrs Bi weekly Tuesday to Friday

To drive and operate a 16-passenger bus for residents of the Victoria Landing Community. Responsible for the direction of the passengers. Understands, respects, and promotes the Resident Rights & Responsibilities.

Functions:

1. Supervises the safe and efficient operation of the bus and equipment, maintaining a high standard of vehicle maintenance and cleanliness.

2. Maintain a daily bus log including mileage and other relevant information re: repairs etc.

3. Participates and assists in the transportation of resident's belongings for all bus trips.

4. Participates in receiving and storage of wheelchairs etc. for trips.

5. Acts as a resource person to program staff on the use of vehicle equipment and checks regularly to ensure equipment is utilized effectively and maintained satisfactorily.

6. Assumes responsibility for the security and cleaning of the bus; checks all locks, doorbells, and emergency exits regularly.

7. Maintains inventory control of all products utilized in vehicle maintenance and housekeeping products for the bus.

8. Satisfactorily demonstrates skill, efficiency and diligence in performing all assigned duties with a minimum of supervision.

9. Works closely and cooperates with all other departments to facilitate smooth running activities and comfort/convenience for the resident.

10. Participates in the Quality Improvement Program.

11. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Patience, understanding and ability to perceive and assess the demands and requests of the residents, management and staff.
• Must be a competent person as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
